Regular Health Examinations

Your pet’s physical exam is important!

Our pets can’t tell us where they hurt or how they are feeling. They are often good at masking their pain.

What Happens During a Regular Health & Wellness Exam?

A wellness exam is a complete hands-on assessment of your pet’s physical health status.

  • Weight
  • Body Condition Score
  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Mouth/Teeth
  • Heart
  • Lungs/Respiration
  • Abdomen
  • Skin
  • Lymph nodes
  • Nervous system
  • External genitalia
  • Gait (How they walk)

What Can an Annual Wellness Exam Find?

From your pet’s first visit as puppies/kittens, through their adult stages and senior stages, our veterinarians will be able to:

  • Detect abnormalities
  • Uncover disease
  • Ear/Skin infections
  • Abscessed teeth, dental disease
  • Changes in weight or appetite due to systemic diseases
  • Lumps/ bumps under the skin could be cancerous

Early diagnosis can be the difference between success and failure in the treatment of disease.

After the exam our veterinarians may make recommendations about:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Weight control
  • Hygiene
  • Dental care

This is also your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your pet’s health and behavior.

  • Excessive itching
  • Excessive licking
  • Inappropriate urinating
  • Scooting

What is Recommended During the Wellness Visit?

  • Vaccines
  • Canine Blood Parasite Screen 4Dx Plus
  • Fecal Exam
  • Feline Leukemia/FIV test
  • Wellness Blood Work/Pet Laboratory Testing
  • Prevention and treatment measures

Each pet’s vaccine record is reviewed along with:

  • Lifestyle
  • Indoor vs. outdoor
  • Travel history
  • Dog park access
  • Camping
  • Frequency of boarding or grooming

All this will determine the appropriate vaccination protocol for your pet.
